Fairynurse – maybe it will help to know that obsession is a normal part of the recovery process after you’ve discovered profound betrayal. It is understandable that you want to know the truth. Maybe you even feel like you need more information before you can accept that the did what he did, even if you know in your heart that he did it.

Here are some suggestions:

1. Name it – what type of obsession is it?
2. Own it – admit to yourself that you are obsessing.
3. Take control of it. The key way to do this is to compartmentalize or set time limits. Only allow yourself to obsess during certain times or under certain circumstances. Outside of those times, find a way to distract yourself.

Eventually the obsession will pass. Until then, do what you can to manage it.
