How to recognize and recover from the sociopaths – narcissists in your life › Forums › Lovefraud Community Forum – General › Cure for Heartbreak?
I just read an interesting article posted by Dr Alain Brunet of McGill University in Montreal:

Using reconsolidation therapy – a mixture of medicine and talk therapy – he removes the trauma from painful memories.
I know many of us have experienced PTSD-type trauma upon the break up with (or discovery of the true identity of) our ex’s. I know I experienced unbelievable pain, self doubt, anger (mostly at myself) when I realized that all my hopes, dreams and future was based on lies. I could not reconcile the reality of my new situation with the golden glow of what I had believed was my true love. All the cheating, lies, stealing and gaslighting blindsided me and sent me spinning into an emotional whirlpool. It took me a year to stop blaming myself, to come to terms with the truth, to decided to never forget – but to forgive.
I am not sure if this therapy is widely available, but the knowledge that it is being studied gives us hope that it may soon be. I wish I had a way to disconnect my emotions from my memories. Even now some of them cause gut-wrenching pain.
emilie18 – I don’t know about the program you suggested, but I do know that EFT tapping can help you disconnect your emotions from your memories.
