National Geographic has an article on “The Science of Good and Evil” (not related to Michael Shermer’s book of that name) which they’ve published in the January print edition. (Oddly, I can’t find it in the August edition as they claim.) The article discusses topics like psychopathy, altruism, the all-important role of empathy (or lack of it), and how they’re affected by brain structure and function. There’s an online version of the article here:
