I highly recommend streaming the Netflix documentary entitled “Tinder Swindler.” It’s about one man who conned countless women out of hundreds of thousands of dollars EACH, totaling in the millions overall. He has served very little time in prison, and is living as a free man in Israel as of the end of the video. But it’s so interesting to see how one woman was able to get back at him and expose his tactics. So he can’t do that anymore.

      Thank you Synergy!

Just saw a report about a different Tinder Swindler and thankfully this one is jailed!

Donna I was wondering if you ever considered reporting your husband’s fraud as a criminal charge? I know he is dead now but back then when it all happened did you ever consider filing criminal fraud charges?

Yes, my ex-husband was reported to the FBI. He took more than $1 million total from myself and the women who testified at my divorce. He took more money from others. The FBI investigated and interviewed the victims. Montgomery was still taking money from women AFTER we reported him to the FBI.

The U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania declined to prosecute. He questioned “the motivation of the witnesses.” That was us.

Wow Donna that is terrible they did not pursue him.

I know of a lot of different kinds of criminal activity that my ex husband was involved in and sometimes I think about reporting him but I have not because I know he will retaliate.

It is awful that these sociopaths and criminals can just keep lying cheating stealing manipulating without any consequences at all.

But maybe mine will cross the wrong person one day and be held accountable by someone else. That would be satisfying.

This is what the Judge said in the Tinder con from the link above:

Passing sentence His Honour Justice Mousley QC said Dexter “never spared a thought” for Ms Sebastian.

“There is no doubt dishonesty is a feature of your character – it is profound,” he added.

“You are someone who shows no hesitation in resorting to lies with an ease that is almost breath taking.”

Wow the original Tinder Swindler from the Netflix documentary is trying to make a Hollywood career out of it now.

Only good thing is that this brings more publicity to these sweetheart scams so more women become aware of this risk.

Also I’ve been seeing more mentions on social media and articles etc about love bombing as a flag for later abuse. So seems like love bombing is becoming more widely recognized as a manipulation strategy and precursor to abuse.

Tinder has issued new guidelines to protect users from romance scans and they specifically mention love bombing as one of the red flags of a swindler.

      https://www.tinderpressroom.com/Romance-Scams-How-to-Protect-Yourself-Online

And the FTC says romance scams reached an all-time high in 2021, jumping about 80% from 2020.
