Pennsylvania State University, home of the storied Nittany Lions football team and its legendary coach, Joe Paterno, was rocked by allegations that one of Paterno’s former assistants, Jerry Sandusky, was charged with sexually assaulting eight young, disadvantaged boys.
The point of the article I posted earlier today, about former Pennsylvania State Senator Vincent Fumo, was abuse of power. This sex abuse scandal is a variation of the same theme. Sandusky’s inappropriate behavior went on for years, probably because no one wanted to challenge a football dynasty.
According to the grand jury report:
• In 1998, Sandusky brought an 11-year-old boy into a Penn State locker room shower and behaved inappropriately. The boy’s mother reported it to Penn State University police. After a lengthy investigation, the Centre County District Attorney decided there would be no criminal charges.
• In 2000, a janitor saw Sandusky in the showers with an 11- to 13-year-old boy pinned against the wall, performing oral sex. He was distraught as he told his fellow janitors and his supervisor what he witnessed. But most of the janitors were new employees, and they were afraid that if they reported what had happened, they would lose their jobs.
• In 2002, a Penn State graduate assistant witnessed Sandusky having anal sex with a 10-year-old boy in the locker room showers. The graduate assistant told Joe Paterno. Paterno told his supervisor, Athletic Director Tim Curley. There were a few meetings, but no official investigation. In the end, all that happened was that Sandusky was told he could no longer bring boys to Penn State. Then, when the grand jury investigated, both Curley and the university’s Senior Vice President for Finance and Business Gary Schultz, downplayed the incident.

Paterno says all at Penn State were fooled by Sandusky
Sky, thanks for that link, “green mile” should be “SECOND mile” LOL You’re getting as bad as me, Sky! CRS! 🙂
Oxy,
whoops! freudian slip!
I keep getting the two confused because one refers to a movie about death row and the other is a place where children are sent to hell.
Last night I watched the “Good Wife” and there was a death row inmate that Alicia’s firm was trying to get his death sentence over turned and he had raped and dismembered a couple of girls the ages of Alicia’s daughter and she was repulsed by this guy. The guy’s mother and Brother were both nice people and the man on death row was a scum bag but he convinced her to get his mom and brother to come see him in exchange for some information he had that would get an innocent may out of a prosecution for murder. Alicia did and the mom and brother came to see the man as he was being walked the “last mile” to the execution and the mother said “Son, I love you” and the man looked at his mom and brother and said “I hope you think about me every day of your life and ROT IN HELL!” He was then hauled off by the guards laughing like a banshee while his mom and brother stood there with their mouths hanging open and Alicia stood beside them….I think Alicia is starting to “get it” in the program about what is a psychopath. Her separated husband is one. He is the DA who is now persecuting her boss and trying to trump up charges against him. It is one TV show that I think is pretty realistic about political and legal psychopaths and scum bags. Good old boys.
Oxy~! That is my favorite TV show..I think it is very well done and very realistic…I watched it last nite also… I bet ya a donut hole Alicia and her xhusband get back together…
Nah, I’ll take that bet! Her husband is gonna send Will to prison for something….how’d you like the MIL trying to get into her computer and going through her dirty drawers? LOL Her MIL is a psychopath for sure, that’s why her husband is one…direct from mommie dearest! Gold’s daughter is gonna get in the sack with Zack too….it is as good as a soap opera! It is a study in P-dom!
Sandusky’s home is next to an elementary school!!!!! It gets deeper and deeper!

Apparently Sandusky did an interview tonight on NBC and denied all the charges. He said he did touch them with horseplay and he did shower with them, but never molested them. He said in hindsight he shouldn’t have showered with them.
What a lot of nerve, after his victims have already come forward, to now call them liars. I can’t imagine the court will buy his BS.
Stargazer:
I agree 100%, but I am afraid money and power might overrule in this case. I pray not!
between this story and the judge whipping his daughter, I’m just fit to be tied.
