If psychopaths were actively identified across institutions,
we would more consistently know exactly who we’re dealing with.
Their stats on getting away with murder would go (way) down.
They would be less likely to win full custody in divorce.
There would be more public awareness around who’s running certain companies.
And our public and professional belief that interactional assessments and background checks tell us all we need to know about a person
would be turned on its head
to the benefit of all involved.
If psychopaths were identified consistently and accurately
by all mental health professionals
(which would require major change in nearly every clinical training program in the U.S.)
our psychologists and counselors and therapists would less likely be fooled into supporting their horrific endeavors.
And victims would be more likely to find needed support.
If psychopaths were clearly and consistently identified
through reliable, accessible, professional assessments
(when their long-term controlling, abusive behavior called for it),
children like mine would not need to wonder why this confusing and terrible thing that’s happening to them
never ends.
Why no adults are helping.
Whether that means there’s really no problem.
Because if something’s hurting in ways that can’t really be defined or explained,
and no one’s helping you out,
what are you supposed to do with your experience?
If we had accurate assessments,
the world would know,
would lose it’s capacity to deny,
and with that knowledge,
be forced to allow empathetic people
to tell the truth
and to help.
And if psychopaths were accurately and consistently identified,
we could stop mourning the confusion
of an inescapable, devastating life experience
that the rest of the world
is either incapable of identifying
or refuses
to see.

Where innocents cry from the confusion they suffer, where good people are hurt by unfeeling bullies, where wastage is caused by those who laugh at another’s pain, where struggles which are unnecessary and pointless devastate those who are trying their best, you will find some or many insidious social predators who delight in another’s pain.
They perpetuate destruction and sadness and evaporate wealth.
The building, encouraging, and positive growth that one witnesses in more gentle and enlightened people, one will never find in the disordered, sociopathic and psychopathic terrorists in this polarized world.

Hina some people just get it. Seems like you’re one of them. My favorite author said Above all else, guard the Heart, for out of it are the sources of life. Easier said than done. Always good to remind ourselves where our moral and ethical compass should be pointing.

Let’s not limit this to the Female gender, if you don’t mind. I almost lost my home to a Psychopath (male – “best friend”) who maybe going to jail soon (I hope!) but also by a less financial stress by a Cuban woman living a dual life (I discovered had a 5 year relationship in Cuba when we were married) who only wanted to get out of Cuba to Canada. This was far harder on the emotional scale for me, a caring, empathetic male who has been emotionally raped and still trying to recover being able trust anyone. I am all for identifying these people, every book I have read tells me it is incumbent on those who know about these pseudo humans to identify them however possible. In fact I have started my own underground campaign whenever I come across a sub human Spath or Ppath.

Call me a cockeyed optimist, but I believe that these new technologies that are now commonplace: personal computers, widespread access to the Internet and cel phones, are going to make a huge difference in “turning over the rock” that is the covert abuse engaged in by psychopaths (and other abusers) and expose to the light the slimy, toxic, destructive things that these squirming creatures are trying to engage in.
No earlier generations had anything *even close* to this form of instant recording and instant world-wide sharing of information in both words and images that we now have. Its like a miracle.
An example: In a town in my state, just last month, two high-school students were arrested for planning a school massacre. How did they get caught? In their hubris, they tried to recruit a third student to join them, and this third student was horrified and reported them to the school authorities. Then, the school notified the police. The police were able to get a warrant or permission to tap the emails and Internet communications, the searches, etc., of these two students’ computers and cel phones. After only a couple of weeks, the police had quite a lot of real evidence that these two students were not just fantasizing, not just writing a story, not just role-playing at being hard-ass bad-boy anti-heros, they were actually well into a detailed plan to kill specific individuals at their school and take as many other lives as they could before committing “suicide by cop.” They had access to guns and were making plans to acquire some guns owned by members of their families when the police made the arrests. One boy surrendered, one tried to flee but was captured. They haven’t gone to trial yet.
Another example: Just a few years ago, the Internet was used to begin ferreting out and arresting child sexual predators. There was even a TV show for a while, “To Catch A Predator”, a sting operation utilizing the Internet, in which actual pedophiles were tricked into showing up at a house in order to (as they believed) have sex with a minor child, and were subsequently interviewed and arrested.
So, yes, I’m really hoping that abusers of ALL kinds will be more and more often exposed publicly and caught using the Internet, email and smart phones that can record audio and visual information and share it, so that the rest of us can sleep a little easier.
