To everyone who ordered my new book, Love Fraud—How marriage to a sociopath fulfilled my spiritual plan: Your books are mailing out today! You should receive them soon!

I am so excited to see my book finally in print. It is gorgeous. The hardback cover is deep red, with the title embossed on the spine in gold foil. The dust jacket design is striking, with the bold and powerful words, “LOVE FRAUD,” above our heart-in-a-target logo. Waiting for the shipment to arrive, I was actually nervous. But when I saw the book, encapsulating the story that took me four years to write, I was thrilled.

I have to admit that this process of publishing a book has taken longer than I thought it would, but the job is finally finished. Or, looking at it another way, the job is just starting.

Trumpeting the message

Love Fraud ”¦ the book ”¦ is the first step in bringing my message that evil exists—and this is what it looks like—to the world.

This is different from the function of Lovefraud.com, the website. Most of you have found Lovefraud.com because you tangled with someone who made no sense. He or she proclaimed undying love, and then turned around and berated you, or assaulted you, or took your money. You thought you were going nuts, until someone mentioned that the person sounded like a sociopath. You Googled the term, found Lovefraud.com, and suddenly, it all made sense.

The book is different. I wrote it as narrative non-fiction; in other words, it’s a true story that reads like a novel. My objective is to grab the readers’ attention with the story, and hopefully, along the way, they’ll learn about sociopaths.

For more info about the book, and to read the introduction and a chapter, please visit my new blog, Love Fraud ”¦ the book.

Full distribution

The official publication date for Love Fraud is August 25, 2010—that’s when you’ll be able to buy Love Fraud on Amazon.com. The book will have full distribution, which means you’ll be able to buy it through other online retailers and in bookstores, although I’m not sure when it will actually be available in the bookstores. (If you have a favorite bookstore, please go in and ask for Love Fraud—that will help.)

You can, however, buy Love Fraud now on our website. And, if you purchase your copy in the Lovefraud Store, I’ll autograph it. Plus, our regular discount program applies—if you buy two or more books, you save 10% on every title.

I know that many of you have been financially devastated by sociopaths and can’t spare the money to buy a book. If that’s the case, please ask your local public library to purchase a copy. Our publishing company, Anderly Publishing, offers a special discount for libraries. Here’s an information sheet about the program that you can bring to your library:

More to be done

Because of Lovefraud.com, I have a clear idea of what needs to be done to educate people about the threat of sociopaths, and to help those who have been ensnared by these predators to escape and recover.

I have a list of about 20 more books that need to be written. My husband, Terry Kelly, wants to develop an education program for high schools. Dr. Liane Leedom has already told you about her project to gather information about sociopaths as parents that can be used in court. There’s so much to do, and all of it costs money.

Quite frankly, I hope I sell thousands of books. A lot of the money that Love Fraud earns will be plowed back into the effort, funding more books, more research, and eventually, more programs.

So please buy a book. Please tell your friends to buy books. Please tell your libraries to buy books. So much needs to be done. Love Fraud—How marriage to a sociopath fulfilled my spiritual plan is just the beginning.

The book and especially the other inititives sound fantastic!

Youtube could do with a channel devoted to this subject. There are a few good videos on YT about sociopaths, and a lot of stupid ones. Mostly they are dealing with them as serial killers.

What would be cool if that one day people could have on this channel their personal testimonies of what happened to them at the hands of sociopaths. Hearing what the experience was/is like from a real victim would really be powerful to get the message. People could still hide their identity if they wanted.

If I was a millionaire I would get glossy checklists and trait checks and hand them out on the streets to every one I met.

I sometimes think reading sites like this, that an undeclared uprising is happened, almost organically where sociopath victims using the internet have said “no more”. Them against the rest of us. But without violence.

I think of Ghandi’s non-voilence/non-cooperation method of spreading information and not playing along with the sociopaths will put them out of business.

Maybe we all manifested at this time to have these experiences and be here now for this purpose. This stuff really happens…

Wonderful news Donna! You should be proud of what you have accomplished.

I look forward to seeing other educational materials or programs your team develops because the world truly needs to learn more about pathologically-toxic and dangerous people who behave as if only they matter and the rights of others should be trampled.

I think education about sociopaths and NPD at an earlier age/teen years perhaps, will help many people make a difference more in their personal life choices.

My greatest concern is how societal institutions will be able to integrate understanding of sociopaths in ways that make a difference on a broader level. The workplace bully bosses, business tyrants, corrupt public officials and other so-called leaders who attempt to destroy too many lives due to their insatiable greed and being overly power hungry need to be held accountable more often.

It is sometimes discouraging when everyday, generally good people — who simply want to function with basic self-esteem, respect for self/others and live a quality life with dignity — are scapegoated, dismissed or treated as if they do not matter when up against the “system.”

When institutions give more support to sociopaths because they are good with manipulation and words that mask their cruelty and insane behaviors, we all pay a price in limiting our sense of community based on embracing justice, ethical principles and shared positive values.

As everyone at Lovefraud.com knows, when sociopaths are in charge of important institutions with non-existent oversight, their decisions often benefit them the most while negatively affecting the masses.

All sorts of propaganda is used to pit people against each other, creating more fear and anxiety and making it less likely that real victims will be heard or otherwise receive support from fellow citizens who are generally decent, even if imperfect, people.

Nothing less than the mental health of individuals across the board, and the general health, well-being and civility of our entire society, is at stake.

Like you Donna and many readers here, I share your commitment to doing my part to help promote education and public awareness about sociopathy.

    Donna,

Congratulations on your book. I hope that it has a wide audience, educating the public about the dangers of sociopaths/psychopaths – giving them clear advice about how to avoid getting tangled up with one (the traits to be aware of).

Hi Donna, I can’t wait to get my hands on your book!. I’ve been visiting LF for more than two years and it has been my life line. This is my first post and I want to say thanks to you, and all the posters, for creating a place where I could go to learn, to begin to understand and begin the healing process (something I was not always sure would happen). I feel like I know so many of you and thought it was time to say “hi”. I’ve never blogged before (something about trust issues I think!). Anyway, thanks again and congratulations on you book! I am looking forward to reading your story.
