The brains of psychopaths are different. What does that mean for laws, crime, sentencing and treatment?

So, my brother has Thanksgiving every year at his home. My one sister and her daughter never comes. My other sister and brother usually do. The cousins love to see each other…my girls…his kids…etc. My brother is a great cook. His wife is lazy and does nothing.
So, I told her about Darla’s injury and that I would have to brign her up in the basket. She told me I couldn’t leave her in the guest room because their dog could get into that room. She said I could leave her out in the garage high up in case the dog gets into the garage.

What nonsense! The kitten has to be watched every minute. She tries to flip over and screams..her arm is broken and in pain! And, she needs us to feed her.

I told her that I guess we would not being coming up. Every year she tells someone they cant come for some reason…a new b/f of my neice…because she doesn’t know him..etc. She was the one that asked me where I was putting my dogs when the hurricane was planned to hit my area and I asked her if I could come up to their home.

So, too much drama and nonsense and my girls and I are staying home. I will invite my neighbor and uncle and stay home to care for Darla.

Its just unbelievable! People suck. Animals rule!

    Tobehappy,

You know, that woman who wasn’t willing to take you in when a HURRICAINE was barreling down on you, and you think she would be willing to accomodate your injured CAT when she told you to see if you could go to your church…come on, WHY on God’s green earth are you even thinking about going to her house EVER again???? Next year, invite the people you like and want to see to YOUR house….you never know, they might prefer seeing you in a less toxic place anyway

So true. I was going for my girls. They love that day. My brother lives in a million dollar home up there. And its the only day my “loving” family gets together. (GAG!)
The truth is that there has been so much “drama” in my family for years, even when my mom was alive…that I never bothered with any of them until a few years ago.
Its not surprising to me that my SIL did this. My other sister doesn’t bother coming anymore since she told her she couldn’t bring her dog down with her…for a visit. My sister opens her home to anyone AND their pets! I may call her and invite her. She lives in PA …border of NJ.

Wow, it is just so absurd to me. I really think 89% of the people on this earth are really sick in the head.

I love being alone with my girls and my pets. So done with the nonsense.

Tobehappy, can the leg be amputated at the shoulder? I’m surprised that wasn’t an option.

Well I read the article , and my initial reaction was , oh brother this guy does not know what he is dealing with . Hes talking about training psychopathic children to be human . Oh great, they will then , be even harder to spot . Yeh , lets teach the psychopaths how to really blend in .
The point is , their brains are different . Teaching them to be human could well just make them more dangerous . Their victims would never realise anything was wrong until it was too late .
To me, studying their brains, maybe fascinating but it hardly helps to understand what a psychopath really is on a personal level .
I am totally convinced that there are things that the victims of psychopaths know about psychopaths that the doctors may never figure out . The doctors would be better off spending more time talking to the victims if they want to really figure out what is going on in the psychopath mind .

Star, I think the vet knew that I don’t have thousands to spend and thats what any surgery will cost. The place that would do any surgery wants the money upfront. No payments. Sad world we live in!
Well, today, early this morning, she was crying. So we hoisted her into the litter box, lying down. She pooped! and peed! Great sign. So her pelvis will heal and her organs are working down there.
The problem is the front paw humerous. If we can stabilize it and allow it to heal, she may be able to walk on it again. This is what we are praying for.
So tonite I will know more after taking her to the vet I found, who sounds really great. I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks SO much to all for your support. I will always love this board! Such caring people! HUGS to all.

I’m so sorry, tobehappy. In a perfect world, she would get the surgery she needed. Sounds like she is really suffering – poor baby. Two major broken bones must be unbelievably painful for her. Do you belong to any internet forum for cat lovers? It’s not unheard of for forum members to take up a collection for something like this. I don’t know what I would do in your situation. I love cats. I’m down to my last one. She is very old, and I can’t bear the thought of losing her.

There are some vets who offer “care credit” so you can pay later. Maybe your vet doesn’t offer it, but another one will.

I read the article again this morning. It confuses me.

I don’t know about the UK and other parts of the world but I can’t picture the US passing laws to exculpate or accommodate psychopaths because they are disordered. Spaths know that they are doing illegal and wrong things because they understand society’s moral and legal standards. Include with that attempts to hide the crimes and planning crimes in advance. Differences in brain function or not, these people know right from wrong and just don’t care. Sure, I’m all for digging deep into our childrens’ mental health to try to head them off at the pass, if possible. But adults obviously can’t be treated at all so what do neuroscience folks hope to do with them? Locking them up in prisons is the best society can currently hope for. What alternative is there?

Star….She is on pain meds and only cries when we move her to clean her off when she goes to the bathroom. Hopefully tonite the vet will stablize her front paw. Then she can heal. This vet was VERY positive. She said that cats have AMAZING ability to heal. So, if I have to buy more pain meds to keep her comfortable and painfree I will. I applied for the credit and I was turned down. So, right now she is happy in the laundry basket on the dining room table. She just ate tons of food and drank a lot of water. When my daughter comes home from school, we will put her in the litter box again if she cries.
Whew….like caring for a newborn! Lots of hugs and kisses are helping her too. She is NEVER alone.

Learning from this. Humans are the same. Lots of love and hugs heal. THank you for your advice. HUGS

I have a big issue with this Dr. Kiehl saying that these monsters can be treated. Big fat lie, IMO. We have a former police officer in my city who is I think on death row now for murder. She attempted to rob a Vietnamese restaurant that she was supposed to be protecting and shot one of her fellow officers in the back when he tried to stop her. Her name is Antoinette Frank-you can google her and find out all about what she did. She has even had TV specials on her being on a list of dangerous women.

I found out that one of my friends from my old job is her younger cousin. My friend told me that she was very scared of Antoinette and going over to her house when they were kids. She said that Antoinette as a 13 year old took stray cats in the neighborhood and buried them in the ground up to their necks and then ran over them with the lawnmower.

These people can NOT be helped or cured-no matter what.
