Friends when is the last time you felt gratitude for having two eyes to see and two ears to hear? I know there are so many things we don’t take a notice of, but think about people who dream to have what you have, dream to be where you are and dream to have food on their table and fresh running water every day. How grateful would they feel to be in your place? Think of people in the war zones watching their homes burn in flames, wishing for peace, shelter and company. How grateful would they be to be in your place? I know it is very challenging to feel grateful when you are traumatised, but think how it could help you on this self-love and recovery journey. When you are in a state of gratitude, it affects your thought pattern and it can easily help you snap out of anxious thoughts, feelings and emotions. When you feel grateful, your state changes, you may notice your breathing change too, all the toxic chemicals seem to subside in your body and you can instantly feel better.
The feeling of gratitude is something you could cultivate gradually simply by doing exercises and using visualisation techniques suggested in this practice session. Again, remember the difference between bitter and better is only one letter, but to change that one letter, there is a significant attitude shift that we have to work on. I know how hard it is, but let’s just not Go through this, but Grow through this together. Pay attention to your thoughts and feelings throughout the day, simply take notice of them and let them pass, but practice to be grateful each and every day. Sometimes when we do not appreciate things, they get taken away from us. On the other hand, when we feel grateful in our hearts, we seem to attract more positive and loving people and situations in our lives. If you would like to test out this theory, all it takes is to try, but try it with an open heart and mind, take joy and excitement in all the exercises you do. It is easy to be critical or to brand certain things in life, but think how getting out of your comfort zone may help you shift your thinking and change your life. We will learn about this more in future sessions.Have fun and stay grateful. Namaste.
