Disarray in the DSM-5

The American Psychiatric Association is in the process of updating its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, the DSM-5. This is the “bible” used by psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to diagnosis psychiatric conditions, including antisocial personality disorder. Two members of the committee working on personality disorders have resigned, stating that the proposal displays a “stunning disregard for evidence.”

Dr. Liane Leedom and I had issues with how the first draft described antisocial personality disorder, which was why we conducted a Lovefraud survey back in 2010. Based on the survey results, we submitted Lovefraud’s  comment about sociopaths for the DSM-5. The description was since revised, but apparently there are professionals who are still dissatisfied.

If the professionals can’t agree, no wonder the rest of us are confused.

Two who resigend from DSM-5 explain why, on PyschologyToday.com.

skylar: I see…but still, years later, that has to feel ROYAL!
Even looking back: that has to feel justification. Hm?

Like “I” was the one who REALLY shoved it off a cliff…
really, when you think about it. As soon as I got a handle
on what was up, I started making plans to get rid of “IT”.
Sure the cog/diss was hellish torture but it was necessary
    for survival.

Sometimes the STRONGEST people are the one’s who
    just walk away. Hm?

You are right: we kept getting screwed over because
we believed in monsters we should NOT have. For some
stupid reason, we thought our ‘affection’ for them would
alter their views and outlooks but that never happens with
a ppath/spath – instead they end up altering yours.

Happy to read you skylar and hope all is okay with you.
I am doing fine. My property is now posted through the
local PD as a no trespassing site. Anyone not living here
can be and will be arrested. Period.

How’s that for a capper on the “GO AWAY”???

    🙂

Yeah, Dupey, it feels good to know that the spath didn’t win that round. There were many rounds that I won despite not knowing what I was dealing with. I chalk it up to God’s will. He knew that I needed that car. It was the PERFECT car for me. It was what I needed, when I needed it and God provided it through the spath’s machinations.

That’s how I see it. In addition, I think God was sending me a message. The car was a Mazda. It felt like a message so I googled the word “Mazda”, just to see what it meant. Imagine my surprise…

In Zoroastrianism, the creator Ahura Mazda is all good, and no evil originates from him. Thus, in Zoroastrianism good and evil have distinct sources, with evil (druj) trying to destroy the creation of Mazda (asha), and good trying to sustain it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoroastrianism

Again, remember, this was long before I suspected I was living with evil.

    lol skylar…

I have seen similar signs, myself Dear…
You and I both know that what we were
dealing with was NOTHING BUT PURE EVIL.

It takes a certain kind of ‘cold blooded-ness’
    to be classified as EVIL.

I am not surprised at all that you found that ‘sign’…
You are meant to walk in the light, not the dark. xxoo

    Thank you for sharing…
    I believe –
    I know what I experienced…

    AT LEAST WE KNOW…..

WHO we are and have not been blown off course.
It may have taken a while to find ourselves again,
but Sister, let me tell you what: NO MORE…

    Amazing….share; STILL.
    Pay attention to the ‘signs’…
they are the road map to a brighter tomorrow.

I don’t know how it works but GODS MERCY DOES
prevail, despite ourselves, sometime; most of the time.

    Peace

I do believe a Higher Authority holds us in abundant care.
I believe it was THAT ‘Higher Authority’ that has spared my
life, however humble it may be.

    EDIT: I forgot to add:
HOPE is what has sustained my soul. Still.
