Lovefraud frequently hears from readers who have been discarded by sociopaths, but still feel like they’re in love with them, and can’t get them out of their minds. We frequently tell these readers that sociopathic relationships are very much like addictions.
Now, there’s proof. A recent study found that “the pain anguish of rejection by a romantic partner may be the result of activity in parts of the brain associated with motivation, reward and addiction cravings,” according to Science Daily.

oxy – i wold contend that liquid chicken chit smells far worse than pig poo, having been ‘privy’ to smelling them both for 12 years.
bp – ‘a poo shaped woman would turn him on” ‘ well, crap!
Well, won’t argue with you about the different perfumes of poo, One stepper, but having been a nurse, sweetie, I am one of them “con-a-sewers” of the various smells of poo LOL so you might as well bow to MY PROFESSIONAL STATUS for that job luvey! LOL ROTFLMNAO I will admit though that the smells of an egg laying chicken house is up there with the worst of the pig farms even from A MILE away if the wind is blowing right your direction.
It is 105 and still rising here today….I have on as few clothes as is legal to have on in mixed company for an old woman, and even inside I am sweating like a Sumo wrestler! So I don’t want to hear you whine about anything below 100 with 85 % humidity! LOL Brought the collie dog inside (long hair) and when son D was going out the door, the dog looked up at him as if the say, “Oh, please D, I hope you are not taking me back outside.” Low was 83 last night! (normal is 70 at night! this time of year)
Well, gotta go cook for my college boy “Boy scouts”—
not whining AT ALL oxy – just need to get the swelling down in my legs. it’s painful. I LIKE the heat and humidity. being a southerner, do you have any advice?
where i’m from they spray liquid chicken chit on the fields…it wafts for miles.
Oxy- LOL!!!!!!! “Con-a-sewer”!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my neighbors was a biologist, and he wrote a book called “Whodunnit?” with pictures of different wild animal scats! I’ve never been around pig farms, but I LOVE using Black Hen (chicken manure) on my grass and flower beds. It is amazing! It does stink horribly, though, so I try to use it when it is supposed to rain a lot. And, my Goldens used to eat it… Yuck…
Stay cool, everyone. It’s 74 here, but very humid… don’t throw things at me! I won’t complain one iota!!! Air is on to keep the humidity down in the house. My dog has a terribly large hot spot on her leg too, so the cooler air will help it heal…
Since we are completely off-topic here, Oxy, do you milk your cows? I have to go to SC to buy raw milk…can’t drink that pasteurized stuff since I discovered raw… It’s just so natural and real. I keep asking the farmer to sell cream. I would make ice cream all year long if he did!
Hi, my name is Christine and I am currently realizing that I have been destroyed by a Sociopath. I know now what is going on, i can see it but am paralyzed by fear to leave, not physically but have been destroyed emotionally and financially. I have a teenage daughter who has been completely taken in. I have been in this relationship for 10 years and only admitted little bits at a time so i could still be ok in my world but my eyes are completely open now.
I dont know where to turn because i KNOW what is going on but emotionally still under the control of my abuser.
I was married to a man for 20 years and was targeted and consumed by a female for the past 10 years. Lesbian relationships are possesive enough as i have learned but on top of that she is the definition of Sociopath.
Please any help or direction to get away would be so very much appreciated.
Welcome to LF Christine – You have found a good place for support. (Now that you know) what you are dealing with you can rebuild your self esteem and prepare your escape, dont let her know what you are thinking or doing…please hang around and post as often as you need too.
Christine – please read here as much as you can. Kathleen Hawk’s series is a good place to start.
post lots – and often. it will help.
there are other gay folk here too (I am one of them). don’t worry about having to deal with any homophobia.
welcome, and it’s going to get better.
one step
Oxy, too funny! I bow to your expertise, but after raising bottle baby exotic animals for years, I rate right up there with discussing texture, color, etc. How many people can say what the right color for African porcupine baby poo? Um, come to think of it,, how many people would want to?
If we are taking a poll, I vote for chickens over pigs, but monkeys over all. My friend once had an ostrich that on bad days was downwind from the piggies. Now THAT was toxic!
Mmmm, cupcakes, ice cream, chocolate, those are my remaining addictions. I think I’m pretty much over X, but I saw a certain favorite candy in the store the other day and had a sudden flashback to how he used to distract me with those sweet but toxic little gifts. I haven’t bought that candy since then. Too bad for my waistline it didn’t cure my craving for sweets.
Welcome Christine, sanity lies here. The fact you can recognize the little bits says you are stronger than you think.
Scratch a sociopath no matter what their race, sex or sexual preference and they are all the same underneath, empty.
I’m going to chime in with my two cents worth about not letting her know you are on to her.
X was the only father my daughter ever knew, she adored him. But after the fall she started realizing for herself just how little he had actually shared with her. Unlike you, I didn’t recognize he was a sociopath and had been covering for him for years to protect her. Even at the end he cried and told her she would always be his daughter. She never saw him again, he never once called or in any way showed interest in her well being. Your daughter may not be as completely taken in either.
