  Four years ago, Katherine Morris, a young woman who was two weeks away from graduating from the University of Maryland, died suddenly. The police said the death was suicide. Her mother, Rev. Horace Mann was, and remains, one of New York City's most rigorous and respected private prep schools. But over the last few years, 63 students have come forward with allegations that they were sexually abused by 22 former Horace Mann staff members. The National Institute of Justice sponsored the National Survey on Teen Relationships and Intimate Violence, which was conducted by a group at the University of Chicago. The survey revealed that nearly 25 million adolescents consider themselves victims of some sort of abuse and 23 million consider themselves perpetrators of abuse. Bruce Taylor, one of two lead researchers for the survey, said the overall abuse figures were higher than previous national studies of dating abuse, revealing “the startlingly widespread nature of the problem." A recent study published in the JAMA Pediatrics journal discovered that among teenagers, online bullying (or cyber bullying) is now a bigger problem than face-to-face harassment. More than 20,000 adolescents were measured for their exposure to bullying. Those who had high exposure to cyber bullying also had higher incidents of emotional, behavioral and substance-use problems. According to the study, regular family dinners are good for teenagers' mental health, helping to tackle the problem of cyber bullying. Four students from North Carolina State University invented "Undercover Colors," a  nail polish that can detect if a date-rape drug has been added to a drink.
