Lovefraud Female Sociopath Survey – please share what you know

September 18, 2014 //  by Donna Andersen//  4 Comments

Do you know a woman or girl who you believe may have sociopathic traits? If you do, tell Lovefraud about her. Most experts believe that there are more male sociopaths than female. In fact, experts estimate that there are three times as many disordered males as females. Research about sociopaths is generally done with males. Not much is known about disordered women. So I'd like to gather data about female sociopaths for a new book that explains what they are really like. I'm looking for input from Lovefraud readers who have been involved with female sociopaths in any of the following capacities: Spouse or ex-spouse Romantic partner She is your mother She is your stepmother She is …

Researchers use light to change memories in mice

August 31, 2014 //  by Donna Andersen//  Leave a Comment

Researchers at the Massachusetts Intstitute of Technology have found a way to change good memories into bad ones, and bad memories into good ones at least in mice. The researchers used light to switch particular neurons in the brains of mice on and off, which had the effect of changing their memories. Although the findings are very preliminary, experts believe the technique may lead to more effective therapies for people suffering from depression, anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder. Light can switch bad memories to good, on USAToday.com. Using light technique, scientists find dimmer switch for memories in mice, on NYTimes.com. …

Robin Williams

Robin Williams, suicide and sociopaths

August 25, 2014 //  by Donna Andersen//  38 Comments

Like millions of fans around the country and the world, I gasped when I heard the news: Robin Williams was dead of an apparent suicide. How could it be? He was so funny! Every time I watch Birdcage I practically fall off the sofa laughing. And he was such an amazing talent! In Good Morning Vietnam, Williams ad-libbed all of the Adrian Cronauer's broadcast scenes. And the movie Aladdin was rejected for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay because Williams, as the Genie, ad-libbed so many lines. See some of Williams' magnificent improvisations here: Robin Williams Ad-Lib: Remembering the late, great actor with 9 of his greatest improvised moments, on IBTimes.com But it turned …

Q&A with a psychopathy expert

August 19, 2014 //  by Donna Andersen//  Leave a Comment

Neuroscientist Kent A. Kiehl, Ph.D., has used an mobile MRI scanner to peer into the brains of about 3,000 violent offenders, including 500 psychopaths. Keihl recently came out with a new book, The Psychopath Whisperer The science of those without conscience. In an interview on Wired.com, he answers questions like: What's the difference between psychopathy and psychosis? Why do you see psychopathy as a mental disorder, not just an extreme personality type? What is different about psychopathic brains? Read the full interview: What it's like to spend 20 years listening to psychopaths for science, on Wired.com.   …

Never Date a Dead Animal

BOOK REVIEW: Never Date a Dead Animal

August 17, 2014 //  by Donna Andersen//  1 Comment

You can certainly say one thing about Never Date a Dead Animal The Red Flags of Losers, Abusers, Cheaters and Con-Artists: It's a book with attitude. And perhaps attitude is just what any woman who is, was, or always seems to be tangled up with the wrong type of man needs. Author Nancy Nichols refers to her audience "Shoe Sistas," and exhorts all women to find their "Girlfriend Within." Who is this girlfriend? My Girlfriend Within is a styling, strutting fashionista; she loves designer labels, handbags, jewelry and shoes. She feels especially sassy in her red patent-leather high heels. My Girlfriend Within is my super-sized, uber-magnificent alter-ego. I can depend on my Girlfriend …

To get rid of a sociopath, think out of the box!

August 16, 2014 //  by Donna Andersen//  15 Comments

One way to convince a sociopath to leave you alone may be to make yourself unappealing. Here are suggestions from a Lovefraud reader: Why all the drama with the cops, probation, looking over shoulder, parole, etc.? The secret seems to be getting the stalker to want no further parts of you. My cousin did that by explaining an elective surgery as a bowel surgery and with a product called Liquid Ass sprayed down the back of her pants confronted him outside her house with the explanation that it's a lifelong after effect she'll have to live with. This sociopath was a daily threat and annoyance and that was the last time she ever saw him, which was August of 2011. Horrid stench along with …

For at-risk toddlers, warm parenting is best

August 14, 2014 //  by Donna Andersen//  9 Comments

Experts now agree that sociopathy is at least partly genetic. That means any child born of a sociopathic parent may inherit a predisposition to the personality disorder. Sometimes this predisposition can be seen in very young children who exhibit "callous-unemotional" traits. New research shows that  toddlers who exhibit callous-unemotional behavior may be helped by warm, loving parenting. Warmer parenting makes antisocial toddlers more empathetic, on PSmag.com. This is the same advice Dr. Liane Leedom gives in her book, Just Like His Father? A guide to overcoming our child's genetic connection to antisocial behavior, addiction and ADHD. Here's the bottom line: If you realize …

William Allen Jordan arraignment

New Jersey bigamist and con man William Allen Jordan pleads not guilty

August 12, 2014 //  by Donna Andersen//  7 Comments

By Donna Andersen MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. Her former fiancé was a lying, manipulative predator who had previously been convicted of fraud, bigamy, theft, possession of a weapon and molesting a child. But as Mischele Lewis, of Florence Township, N.J., sat behind him in court yesterday, William Allen Jordan declined a plea bargain and pleaded not guilty to charges of theft by deception and impersonating a public servant or law enforcement officer. When Jordan was arrested, he was also charged with sexual assault. However, a grand jury did not indict him on the sexual assault charge. Last February, Mischele was devastated to discover that the man who had asked for her hand in marriage was n …

BOOK REVIEW: The Secret Life of Captain X

August 3, 2014 //  by Donna Andersen//  12 Comments

Growing up, she was taught that a woman's success in life depended on a good marriage. She pursued show business instead. But still single the age of 39, she decided it was time for a change, and left the bright lights of New York City for Arizona. There she met a dashing airline pilot, whom she described as "funny, intelligent, committed, family-oriented, successful, caring and loving." Or, at least that's how he presented himself in the beginning. She fell for him. Fell hard. They married. For her that was the beginning of 22 years of confusion which, she later realized, was psychological and emotional abuse, inflicted by a psychopathic husband. She's divorced now, but her husband …

21 psychopathic behaviors, illustrated by a sports profile

July 28, 2014 //  by Donna Andersen//  17 Comments

A Lovefraud reader recently sent me a link to an article on SBNation.com, a sports website. The article is an in-depth portrait of a psychopath, although that word is never used. Here's the article: The many crimes of Mel Hall He was a flamboyant player, a charismatic coach, and a sexual predator Mel Hall was a professional baseball player for 13 years. He retired and capitalized on his status as a former pro player to get jobs coaching youth basketball and baseball. Hall only coached young girls. Some of them he molested. After 20 years, in June 2009, Hall was convicted of one of those assaults. Then, at the sentencing hearing, it was revealed that Hall had either abused or had …
