Annapolis shooter Jarrod Ramos—something’s wrong, but he may not be a sociopath

On Thursday, Jarrod W. Ramos, 38, burst into the offices of the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis, Maryland and shot five employees dead.

This tragic situation began as a stalking case. Here are the details: In 2009, Ramos found a former high school classmate on Facebook. The woman didn’t remember Ramos, but Googled him, discovered they were, in fact, classmates, and she was cordial to him. Ramos escalated, began stalking her, and the woman finally pressed charges. Ramos pleaded guilty to criminal harassment and received 90-day suspended sentence and 18 months of probation.

Gary Lindsey, with a history of domestic violence, killed four children and himself

Gary Wayne Lindsey Jr., 35, of Orlando, Florida, beat and threatened his girlfriend — again. On June 12, 2018, he followed through, shooting and critically injuring a cop, killing four children, and then killing himself.

Ciara Lopez, 31, mother of the four children, fled her apartment and ran to a convenience store to call 911. “I don’t want to leave them alone there for too long because he might do something,” she said.

Police arrived, and there was a 23-hour standoff. The end was tragic.

Last words of Rhonda Casto: ‘He is either going to give me a ring or throw me off a cliff’

Rhonda Castro fell to her death while hiking on the Eagle Creek Trail in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon on March 16, 2009 with her boyfriend, Stephen Nichols.

Her last words to her grandmother and aunt were, “He is either going to give me a ring or throw me off a cliff.”

Nichols was originally charged with murder, but eventually pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide and coercion in May 2017. He was sentenced to three years of probation, with credit for 19 months of jail time.

The case will be featured on The Real Story with Maria Elena Salinas, which will air Monday at 10 pm ET on Investigation Discovery.

Has your ex threatened to take revenge after your divorce?

Dwight Jones, of Scottsdale, Arizona, was bitter and angry about his November, 2010 divorce. Last week, almost eight years later, he allegedly lashed out.

Jones is suspected of killing six people, four of whom were connected to his divorce:

  • Dr. Steven Pitt, a well-known psychologist who testified against Jones in the divorce
  • Veleria Sharp and Laura Anderson, paralegals who worked in the law office of the divorce attorney retained by Jones’ ex-wife
  • Marshall Levine, a counselor who took over the office space once used the counselor who treated Jones’ son
  • Mary Simmons and Bryon Thomas, who were friends of Jones, although police don’t know why he killed them

Yahoo Boys swindle $12.7 million from Hong Kong women in four months

The Yahoo Boys of Africa are expanding their romance scam empires. At least two crime syndicates from Africa are preying on women in Hong Kong. In the first four months of this year, 159 Hongkongers lost US$12.7 million (HK$100 million) in romance scams. The number of fraud causes is up 200%.

The biggest loser was a 56-year-old woman living in public housing who lost US$3.4 million (HK$26.4 million) in 18 months.

Police believe the African gangs recruit local residents in Asian countries to open bank accounts, collect payments and find online targets.

Looking for love online? Watch out for the Yahoo Boys!

Yahoo Boys were arrested for love scams.

In Nigeria, perpetrators of online fraud are called “Yahoo Boys.” They do very well for themselves.

Three men who specialized in love scams were arrested Monday by the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). They were found with cars, laptops, mobile phones, and other property, all purchased with the money they scammed from unwitting romantic partners.

And a couple of weeks ago, a group of Yahoo boys abandoned their exotic cars at a nightclub to escape a raid by the EFCC.

If you still want to try online dating, know that the Internet is infested with predators, and be very careful.

Cognitive dissonance: Vicky Cilliers can’t accept that her husband tried to kill her by tampering with her parachute

Victoria and Emile Cilliers.

Emile Cilliers, a British army sergeant, was convicted last week of attempting to kill his wife, Vicky.

The two were avid skydivers, and in April 2015, he tampered with her parachute before a jump. She fell 4,000 feet, but miraculously survived.

Earlier in the week, Emile Cilliers damaged gas fittings in their home. If the gas had exploded, it would have killed Vicky and their two children.

But even though the court found him guilty, Vicky Cilliers can’t believe her husband was capable of murder. Read this story:

Truly scary: Australian grandmother, a love fraud victim, sentenced to death for drug smuggling

Online dating is dangerous. Just ask Maria Elvira Pinto Exposto, 54, of Sydney, Australia, who may hang because of a romance scam.

For two years, she communicated an online boyfriend, who claimed to be “Captain Daniel Smith,” a US soldier stationed in Afghanistan. The online boyfriend eventually proposed to her. Maria flew to Shanghai to meet him. He didn’t show up. Instead, she was given two bags to bring back to Melbourne.

At a layover in Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia, the bags were searched. Drugs were stitched into the linings. Maria had no idea.

Martin Larney kills his girlfriend over the outfit she was wearing

Martin Larney, 22, of Arizona didn’t like the outfit his girlfriend, Alina Duwyenie, also 22, was wearing. So he shot her in the left eye. At the hospital, the young woman was pronounced dead.

Larney told three different stories about the incident, finally admitting he shot his girlfriend. It wasn’t his first domestic violence incident.

New Yorker story paints NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman as a complete psychopath (although they don’t say it)

All the signs are there, if you know what to look for. Physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Entitlement. Threats. Alcohol abuse. Hypocrisy. Unbelievable hubris.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman cast himself as a champion of women’s rights. He filed a civil right lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein’s former company — that’s what he’s talking about in the above video.
